Our staff professional development programs are 2-8 hour workshops of practical, interactive strategies for effective teaching on topics determined by the School Administrator. The format of our services includes initial consultation with the School Administration to review faculty needs, followed by an individually tailored workshop.  All workshops include lectures, hands-on activities and discussions, case studies, role-playing and handouts. Teachers will be introduced to material and relevant work both from within Montessori and from leading educational authorities.  All workshops are customized for your particular school.  Past popular workshops include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lesson Planning and Tracking<\/strong> – after reviewing current lesson planning and tracking systems, teachers will be introduced to other styles of systems and then guided in working together to redesigning a new and improved system for your particular school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Report Card Writing<\/strong> – Perspectives Montessori Consulting will review the current report card system and discuss administration’s goals for evaluation.  Teachers will be coached in the art of report card writing, including phrasing, common educational language, grading etc..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parent Relations and Communications<\/strong> – teachers will learn how to work with parents in the areas of: daily interactions, hosting parent\/teacher conferences, report card writing, etc.  Teachers will also learn their important role in admissions and retention through positive parent interactions.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teacher’s Role in Marketing<\/strong> – teachers will learn the vital role they play in internal marketing and the impact they have on the parents’ decision to remain in the school.  They will examine the school vision and mission and discuss how they can create an internal marketing strategy.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montessori and the Ontario Curriculum<\/strong> – the Ontario curriculum will be presented in terms of Montessori lessons.  Staff will be coached on how to interpret the Ontario curriculum and how the Montessori curriculum covers the required content.  Staff will be led through discussions on signs of mastery in a Montessori classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Classroom Management<\/strong> – teachers will begin this workshop discussing current classroom management systems.  Then the teachers will be given strategies on how to handle any difficulties they are encountering in the day-to-day operations of a classroom.  Issues such as designing a schedule, dealing with difficult children, student time management strategies, and tracking individual students will be addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curriculum Development<\/strong> – Perspectives Montessori Consulting will help school administration and faculty strengthen their academic programs by identifying areas of strength and developing plans to enhance other facets of curriculum.  Curriculum documents will be updated to adjust for the changes.  Popular areas of development include guided reading and writing programs, a sequential history program and a sequential mathematics program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journey to Discovery <\/strong>– staff will partake in an educational journey through the classrooms and will gain a renewed view of the whole curriculum sequence and an improved appreciation for their colleagues.  This hands-on workshop will place teachers in a position to teach their peers, as well as, to be a student in their colleagues classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montessori Teacher Planes of Development<\/strong>  – staff will examine their own personal journey as a Montessori teacher, as well as, relate to their colleagues personal journeys.  Using a Montessori Planes of Development chart, staff will relate to one another as they understand the fears and goals of each stage of teacher development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
