Teacher Training Centre Support

Teacher training centre support can take the form of a single-day consultation, weekly sessions or extended projects depending on the needs of the centre.  Single day consultations and weekly sessions typically consist of lecturing, proctoring examinations, and evaluating student progress.  Administrative support is also offered for specific projects such as the accreditation process, handbook development, and curriculum enhancement.  In all cases, the School Administration will meet with the consultant to develop a customized program. Services are available in topics such as:

Examinations, Essays, Albums and Assignments – evaluation of students’ on their exams, albums and/or written assignments following the training centre guidelines.

Guest Lectures in any Montessori Curriculum Level – lectures in any academic area in the Casa or Elementary curriculum. 

Montessori Curriculum Extensions using the Ontario Curriculum – the Montessori Curriculum is a well-rounded educational system, however, there are some strands in the Ontario Curriculum that are not covered in the traditional Montessori Curriculum.  Perspectives Montessori Consulting will create additional lessons for the Montessori albums to incorporate these missing areas.  The lesson pages will follow the same format of the training centre.

Guest Lectures in Non-Curriculum Subjects – lecture on non-curriculum subjects.  Past lectures have included professionalism, parent relations, record keeping, interview skills, advertising, etc.

Montessori and the Ontario Curriculum – many Montessori schools now require teachers to be aware of the Ontario Curriculum guidelines.  This workshop will present an overview of the Ontario Curriculum within each subject area in relation to the Montessori curriculum. 

Field Supervisor – the consultant will visit student teachers during their practice teaching sessions to evaluate their progress, following the training centre guidelines.  Recommendations for areas of improvement will be presented to the student teacher, as well as the training centre.

Accreditation Processes – the consultant will meet with the training centre administration to review the accreditation process (MACTE).  Depending on the needs of the centre, Perspectives Montessori Consulting can observe and evaluate programs, review documentation, or manage the entire accreditation process. Recommendations are presented to the training centre administration.
